From all continents in the world, 52 runners from 23 countries, including the top Sri Lankan marathon runner Sanath Bandara, will compete in the race.   A professional team of local and international supporting staff, including medical doctors and course directors, will ensure a great racing experience to the runners.

“Sri Lanka has so much to offer naturally and culturally.  This is a truly unique opportunity to experience both, on foot.  We are determined to make this race an annual event in Sri Lanka.  The race will promote Sri Lanka as a safe, friendly, and attractive travel destination for everyone in the world.”

This 210 km 6-stage race begins at the Rock Fortress of Yapahuwa, the short-lived capital of medieval Sri Lanka.
The runners will then head to Raswehera (Sasseruwa), the giant Buddha statue in “Freedom from fear” pose, the picturesque Ritigala Mountains, and the Kandalama Lake. The finishing line is set at the top of the World Heritage Site, Sigiriya, “The Lion Rock.”   In between the stages, the runners will stay at temple pilgrim halls, campsites, and local village houses.
