Dehiwela-Mount MC Health Dept keep cracking whip

Health authorities in the Dehiwala – Mount Lavinia Municipal Council that carried out raids on hotels, eating houses, groceries and supermarkets in Attidiya, Mount Lavinia, Dehiwala and Ratmalana areas arrested and  produced in court seven hotel owners on the charges of selling food unfit for human consumption and violations of other regulations applicable to the supply of food.

They were fined Rs. 104,000 and severely warned to refrain from committing similar offences in the future. Medical Officer of Health Dr. Indika Ellawala said two of the suspects were manufacturers of coconut oil and one of them was fined Rs.10,000 and the other Rs.18,000. He said warning letters were issued to them.

Seven hotel owners charged for selling food unfit for  human consumption and violations of other food regulations

Dr. Ellawala said three hotel owners were fined Rs.16,000.00 each for serving food unfit for human consumption and another hotel was sealed on court order and instructed to repair the building up to the required standards.

Administrative Public Health Inspector Lalith Perera, area public health inspectors R.P.T.S.Rajapakse, M.M.Ajith Sanjeewa , sanitary supervisors E.C.P.Soysa, Vipula Vishwajith, Priyantha Karunaratne, K.T.C.Sampath and Dahushka Gunararnte carried out the raids.
