The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) said yesterday the dissolution of Parliament would be appropriate at this hour in its perspective, as it could make way for the creation of a new Parliament able to deal with issues concerning the Tamils in the North and the East.

TNA Spokesman MP Suresh Premachandran told Daily Mirror that the TNA was having international discussions on the criterion for contesting the election this time, and the formulation of its manifesto. Yet, Mr. Premachandran said the TNA was uncertain whether Parliament would be dissolved soon or not.

“We have formed separate groups to discuss various matters including the formulation of our manifesto. Also, we are discussing the criterion for the nomination of candidates representing each constituent party of the TNA,” he said.
The TNA is an amalgam of four parties- Ilankai Tamil Arachu Katchchi, Eelam People’s Revolutionary Liberation Front, People’s Liberation Organization of Tamil Eelam and Tamil Eelam Liberation Organization.

“We would like to have Parliament now. The government has spelled out that the concrete decisions regarding the issues of Tamils can be taken after the general election. If it is delayed, it will not be good for us. So, we would also like to have the election now,” he said.
