Rukman to contest from Kegalle

Former United National Party (UNP) Assistant Leader Rukman Senanayake who kept away from party matters for awhile will once again participate in active politics is billed to contest from the Kegalle District.

Sources close to Mr. Senanayake said he was yesterday appointed as the Deraniyagala UNP Organiser by Party Leader and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Mr. Senanayake was a former UNP Chairman and an Assistant Leader in 2006.
Soon after he received party nomination, he met some of his supporters at his residence where he announced his candidature.
Mr Senanayake is the grandson of Sri Lanka’s First Prime Minster D.S. Senanayake.
