Ex-president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, in a show of support for the United National Party-led United Front for Good Governance66 (UNFGG) visited the campaign office of Gampaha district candidate Arjuna Ranatunga.

“This election is a political tussle between good people and bad people.  It means it is a tussle between the UNP and the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA). Ms. Kumaratunga has always sided with good people. She played the key role in electing President Maithripala Sirisena to office. She remains with the government, advocating principles of good governance. We have her blessings,” Mr. Ranatunga said after he met Ms. Kumaratunga at the campaign office

Ms. Kumaratunga, who served two terms as president was the daughter of two prime ministers — SLFP’s founder leader S.W.R.D. Bandaranaike and Sirimavo Bandaranaike.

Meanwhile, President Sirisena signalled his support to UPFA candidate Duminda Dissanayake with his presence at a propaganda meeting in Anuradhapura last week.
