A suspect had been arrested in Mannar by the Colombo Crimes Division of Police yesterday over the body of a woman left abandoned in a travelling bag at Bastian Mawatha bus terminal in Pettah last week.

Police Spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekara said the suspect was arrested by the CCD in Mannar.

The CCD began investigating the incident after the group of commuters found an abandoned bag near the queue at the Anuradhapura bus terminal on July 29, in which the body of the woman was found.

Police later identified the deceased as Rangan Karthika of Vaddukottai, Jaffna.   The woman had reportedly been having an affair with the suspect after her husband went abroad, the Police said.
