Measures have been taken to revive the basic infrastructure facilities of some 13 multi-storied housing complexes in the Colombo municipality before the end of this year, the Housing and Samurdhi Ministry recently said.

The Cabinet approval had been granted on Thursday to proceed with the project which is being managed by the Condominium Management Authority and attained by the State Development and Construction Corporation.

Ministry Additional Secretary K.A. Thilakaratne said Rs. 143 million had been allocated to develop the road network and drainage system of the housing complexes.

Thirteen multi-storied housing complexes in Colombo municipality

Accordingly, the road network and drainage system of the Bolamesawatte, Veluwanarama, Elvitigala, Mallikarama, Central Road, Kammalwatte, Jumma Masjid, Dissanayake Watte, Aluth Mawatha, Dias Place, Bloemendhal, St. James Street and Aluthkade Housing Schemes will be revived. Mr. Thilakaratne said 145 families were residing in Bolamesawatte, 136 in Veluwanaram, 264 in Elvitigala, 392 in Bloemendhal and 188 in St. James Street Housing Schemes.

Infrastructure facilities before year end”

The Ministry had previously carried out the ‘Nagamu Purawara’ programme to colour wash the housing schemes buildings in the municipality and to maintain cesspits and roofs.
