“Oba Nethuwa Oba Ekka” Gets green light to hit screens this month

The film ran into controversy when the Censor Board requested some scenes removed for approval. It was not given the green light because director Prasanna Vithanage refused to comply with the Censor Board’s request. Recently, the newly appointed Censor Board cleared the film for public viewing under the “more suitable for adults” tag without any censorship.


Award-winning filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage’s 7th feature film “Oba Nethuwa Oba Ekka” (With You, Without You) is slotted for island wide release later this month in the CEL and Rithma circuit theatres. The film has won 6 international awards and featured in 35 international film festivals all over the world.

Indian actress Anjali Patil and theatre veteran Shyam Fernando are featured in “Oba Nethuwa Oba Ekka” based on a novella by Fyodor Dostoyevsky. It was written nd scripted by Prasanna Vithanage.  M.D. Mahindapala (Cinematographer), A. Sreekar Prasad (Editor), Lakshman Joseph De Saram (Music Composer), Tapas Nayak (Sound Designer) and Rob Nevis (Production Designer) have contributed to “Oba Nethuwa Oba Ekka”. Daminda D. Madawala is the assistant director and Ebert Wijesinghe handled the make-up. Kalpana Ariyawansa and Vindana Ariyawansa contributed as Line Producers.


The film has won 6 international awards and featured in 35 international film festivals all over the world.


A co-production between India and Sri Lanka, Lasantha Nawarathna and Mohamed Adamally produced “Oba Nethuwa Oba Ekka”. Rahul Roy, Iranthi Abeysinghe, Sunil Fonseka and Nadira Adamaly joined as the executive producers.
