There is a likelihood that six ex-ministers who lost at the General Elections would be appointed as MPs from the National List  of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), informed sources said yesterday.
S.B. Dissanayake of Kandy, Mahinda Samarasinghe of Kalutara, Piyasena Gamage of Galle, Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene of Matara, Vijith Vijithamuni Zoysa of Moneragala and Nandimitra Ekanayake of Matale are tipped to be appointed as MPs from the National List.

Sources said this had been decided after a discussion between President Maithripala Sirisena and party seniors.
This follows on a decision by the Commissioner of Elections that the names of defeated MPs could be appended to the National List that had previously been handed over to him. The National List had originally contained 12 names.
