SLFP draws up MoU for National Government

A six-member committee headed by former president Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has drawn up a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to be signed by the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the United National Party (UNP) for the formation of a national government.

Former minister S.B. Dissanayake, a member of this committee that was appointed by the SLFP, told Daily Mirror that the MoU was worked out yesterday  for a national agenda.   However, he said, no mention was made in it of the number of ministerial portfolios to be assigned to the SLFP in the proposed national government. The national government is  proposed to be operative for two years .  The six-member committee was appointed by the SLFP’s Central Committee yesterday. Ms. Kumaratunga attended the Central Committee meeting for the first time after ten years yesterday.
