TNA wants to play responsible role

National Alliance (TNA) said yesterday it would not take up positions in the government, but
would play the role of a responsible Opposition in Parliament.

The alliance’s Jaffna District MP M.A. Sumanthiran told the Daily Mirror that his party would support the constructive and positive measures taken by the government, and criticise it whenever necessary. The TNA secured 16 seats in Parliament at the Parliamentary Elections conducted on August 17.
