Dialog Cricket Awards on Oct. 19

The Dialog Cricket Awards held annually to celebrate and recognise the outstanding achievements of cricketers — internationally and domestically — will be held on October 19 at the Water’s Edge in Battaramulla. 
This was announced at a joint press conference organized by Sri Lanka Cricket and sponsor Dialog Axiata, the leading mobile telecommunication operator in Sri Lanka, at Taj Samudra hotel on Wednesday.
The awards, organized for the seventh year in succession, will have ten awards for players who represent the national sides while 60 more awards will be given away for the cricketers who have contributed to the development at domestic level. However the focus will be on the Cricketer of the Year award, an award presented to the outstanding achiever during the 2014-2015 season, and the People’s Player of the Year, presented to the cricketer who gets the maximum fan support.
Sri Lanka skipper Angelo Mathews won the Cricketer of the Year award in the last edition while Kumar Sangakkara walked away with the People’s Player of the Year award.
In addition awards will be presented to performances in Test cricket, ODI and T20 and also best performers in Premier League Tournament, Premier Limited Overs Tournament, Emerging Cricket Tournament, Sara Trophy, Donovon Andree Tournament, Under 23 tournament and Women’s Domestic Competition.

“Dialog Cricket Awards will hold tradition to bestow a momentous event to celebrate the achievements of our national cricketers who have performed gallantly over the past year, as well as recognize the respective clubs and associations at domestic level that have nurtured the stars that have brought honour and glory to our proud nation,” he added.
