The government, which will present its 2016 budget on November 20, has requested financial experts to submit their proposals.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake told Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) officials whom he met at his ministry that the government would welcome their proposals.

He said the government would also seek the input from experts on what steps it should take amid the current situation in the global economy.

The minister said the government would make a special statement in the next few days on the economy and on how Sri Lanka would be affected by the global economic situation.

He rejected the baseless allegations made by the Opposition that several state institutions would be privatized and said privatization was not in the government’s dictionary and won’t ever be.
