A South Korean company has approached the Sri Jayawardenapura- Kotte Municipality to purchase garbage collected in the area. One of the many proposals made to local government authorities in Colombo, the company proposes to purchase garbage and produce electricity. According to the the proposal the project would produce 5 megawatts which would be gradually increased to 10 megawatts.

The party also met the Megapolis Minister of Western Development, Champika Ranawaka, who said the project could be conducted as a BOI project and that the government had received 42 proposals from private parties with regard to garbage that would be evaluated this month.
