UPFA leaders form new organisation

 A group of UPFA leaders have formed a new organisation called, “Mavubima  Surekeeme  Jathika Viyaparaya (National Movement  for the Protection of the Motherland). The leaders of some of the constituent political parties of the UPFA, who met on Friday (9) at the Abhayarama Temple in Narahenpita, formed this new organisation.

Mahajana Eksath Peramuna leader Dinesh Gunawardena  was elected president of the new movement. The other elected office bearers are former minister G.L.Pieris  (secretary), National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa  (national organiser) and Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader  Udaya Gammanpila  (cultural secretary) and MP Gamini Lokuge (treasurer).

Its patrons are the Ven. Murutthettuwe Ananda Thera, the Ven Medagoda Abayathissa Thera, the Ven Induragare Dhammarathana Thera, the Ven Bengamuwe Nalaka Thera and the Rev. Sarath Hettiarachchi.
