In order to tackle the problem of overgrown shrubs, villagers in the Dibbedda area and residents in the Panadura area jointly organised a sharamadana campaign recently to clear the Dibbedda Cemetery  and begin  a tree planting campaign.

The shramadana was done under the guidance of former pradeshiya sabha member Nandana Zoysa (UNP). Officers of the Panadura Pradeshiya Sabha including  the officer in charge of community development and the officer in charge of the environment section also participated.

Former PS member, Soysa speaking at this occasion said that all cemeteries coming under the purview of Panadura PS would be cleaned in the future and that he would take action ‘ to plant trees and medicinal plants in parallel with the island-wide tree planting campaign’.
