PRECIFAC: Senadipathi gives statementPublished : 8:50 am January 5, 2016 | No comments so far | | (159) reads |
PRECIFAC Secretary Lacille de Silva said Mr. Senadipathi was summoned by the Commission on four earlier occasions but had informed the Commission through his lawyers that he was unable to respond to the summons because of illness and backed it up with medical certificates. Mr. de Silva said this was the first occasion on which Mr. Senadipathi had reported to the commission on the weapons purchase. The recording of the statement had taken more than four hours. Meanwhile, the counsel representing Mr. Senadhipathi said they had argued that it was not reasonable to carry out further investigations into the incident because the new board appointed by President Maithripala Sirisena to the Rakna Lanka Security Company had also accepted and followed the same agreements inked during the tenure of the previous board. “Even the new board appointed by the President had said that previous agreements are valid. However, Mr. Senadhipathi still gave evidence to the Commissions,” Counsel Nishan Premathiratne said. He said Mr. Senadhipathi was again summoned to the Commission today (5) to give evidence.
