GURU GEETHAYA, the Sri Lankan movie which has been shot in the highest altitude in the world setting a world record, has been selected for the ‘World Premiere’ at the upcoming Eurasia International Film Festival scheduled to be held from September 24 to 30 in Untitled-1Kazakhstan. It is the biggest international film festival held in the former Soviet Republic, Kazakhstan. It will be held in the City of Almaty, Kazakhstan’s trading and cultural hub, and it presents about 70 films from over 30 countries every year.

The high budget Movie is another production of Dr. Arosha Fernando, and the debut film of Upali Gamlath who has won many international awards for his short films over the past 10 years. With a rich cast comprising Roshan Ravindra, Damayanthi Fonseka, Gamini Hettiarachchi, Kalpani Jayasinghe and many more veteran artistes from both Sri Lanka and Nepal, and music by award winning Nadeeka Guruge – the movie is scheduled to be released soon in Sri Lanka as well as other selected countries.

‘An important aspect of the Eurasia international film festival is that roundtables are held at the festival to develop links between producers and distributors from European and Asian countries, and facilitate a co-production and promotion of new European and Asian films. This is a very important aspect for a country like Sri Lanka where we are eager to partner with rest of the world on co production of films’ said Dr. Arosha Fernando, the Producer of the GURU GEETHAYA film.
