TEXT & PICS BY MUDITHA DAYANADA The Naipillewa Bridge in Mawathagama, Homagama which was closed for two years due to renovations is now open for public use. The bridge had sunk in 2014 as it was in poor condition. This had led to the disuse of the road and the diverting of three bus routes, residents said. The construction of the new bridge began in 2015. However, residents said the bridge was constructed on a higher level than the road, causing the surrounding area to flood during rains. “We request authorities to level the road so that we will not have this problem,” they said.
