Cabinet approval for walking paths in Pettah

Cabinet today approved a proposal to re-establish walking paths and stalls for vendors in Pettah under several development projects. The proposal by the Minister of Megapolis and Western Development will see unused land effectively and efficiently utilized for public infrastructure. Therefore Rs. 44 million was allocated to construct two walk trails from Lake House to the Beire Lake, from D. R Wijewardena Mawatha to Olcott Mawatha and the area surrounding it. Cabinet also allocated Rs.22 million to rehabilitate vendors and businesses that would be removed because of development projects along Olcott Mawatha
