WTF this week visited The WINGS festival which was a celebration of Art, Conversation and Food that brought citizens from all backgrounds to contribute to an imagining of reconciliation as a multifaceted, participatory process.

The festival began in October 2016 in Kilinochchi, and then travelled to Ampara in November, culminating in Colombo with a festival that showcased a range of artistic work, an academic conference and an open air food fair. We went with our cameras to the open air food fair, building on our rich history of spices, flavours, and influences to showcase the diverse cuisines and traditions of the different ethnicities and communities around the country; showcasing not only the food but also the diversity of lifestyles and beliefs. With over 100 stalls, the food fair featured cuisines from different ethnic groups around the country. And coming to think of it, it’s the only way you can bridge any broken wounds; it was great to see the country unite as one and enjoy the flavours at one dining table
