Karunuday Singh emerged champion of the Astoria Asian Tennis TourM2 tournament when he recorded a convincing 2-0 win against compatriot Kunal Anand who had to play second fiddle for the second time in the final played at the SLTA hard courts in Greenpath, Colombo yesterday.

Karunuday was in top form during the course of the tournament as he defeated Sri Lanka’s Dineshkanthan Thangarajah in a second round match and then got the better of two Pakistan players in the Ashiq brothers Tanveer and Heera in the quarter and semi final encounters to qualify for the final.

Kunal too had a good run defeating two Sri Lankan players Vibuda Wijebandara in the second round and Yasitha de Silva in the quarter-finals while his semi-final match against first tournament winner Suraj Prabodh was stopped midway due to the retirement of Suraj through injury.
