‘Interim report on Constitution in simplest language’

President Maithripala Sirisena instructed the Steering Committee to draft the interim report on Constitution making in the simplest possible DM_20170210_A001-6language so that the ordinary people can  understand it, an MP said yesterday.  

Tamil National Alliance (TNA) MP M.A.Sumanthiran told the Daily Mirror he, along with a few others, met with the President.  
“The President wanted us to draft the report in simple language avoiding technical terms for the ordinary people to understand, “he said.   
He also said the President’s position was conveyed to the Steering Committee by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe who chairs it. The Steering Committee met on February 7. The next meeting is scheduled for February 21.    Mr. Sumanthiran said some experts were simplifying the report at the moment.    The government initially planned to submit the report on December 10, 2016.
