Retention wall collapses in Mawanella

Two workers had been killed and another was injured when an earth embankment collapsed on them, while building a retention wall at the Mawanella Town yesterday morning, the Police said.

They said the workers were stuck underneath the collapsed earth and Police and residents pulled them out of the debris and admitted them to the Mawanella Hospital.

The 44-year-old M.K. Jayasiri and 46-year-old Thilak Rupasingha succumbed to their injuries after being admitted to the hospital, the Police said.

They said the deceased were identified as residents of Rukulagama and Ussapitiya. 
The Mawanella Police are investigating.
