Pakistani couple nabbed with heroin worth Rs.40 mn

A husband and wife duo from Pakistan, that arrived in the country with a stock of heroin valued at over Rs. 40 million in their possession, was taken into custody by the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) early last morning, police said.  

The PNB officers, who got suspicious about the movements of the duo that arrived from Karachi, searched the suspects’ luggage and found the heroin hidden in a false bottom inside the luggage. The stock of heroin weighed over 4.2 kilogrammes.   

The PNB was conducting further investigations under a detention order it received from the Negombo Magistrate’s Court.
