Muslims in Sri Lanka will celebrate the Ramazan Festival today ending a month long fast during the Islamic month of Ramazan, which began on May 27, the Colombo Grand Mosque announced on Saturday evening. 

The decision to celebrate the Ramazan Festival today was taken at a meeting held at the Colombo Grand Mosque to decide the first day of the Islamic month of Shawwal.  As no reliable evidence, on the sighting of the new moon was received from any part of the country on that evening, those attended the meeting decided to celebrate the festival today.   The meeting was attended by the representatives of the Colombo Grand Mosque, All Ceylon Jammiyyathul Ulema, officials of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and Trustees of Memon Hanafi Mosque.
