Leader of the House and Minister Lakshman Kiriella said yesterday the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance Bill will be taken up for debate at a future date.

He told Parliament that media reports that the Bill was withdrawn by the Government was not true.

The Bill was to be taken up in Parliament on Wednesday according to the order paper but it was not taken up for debate as scheduled.

There were huge protests against bringing in the Bill from different factions in the country including the Mahanayake Theras.
