I don’t interfere with law enforcement: Sagala

Law and Order Minister Sagala Ratnayake said yesterday he had instructed the law enforcement authorities to act independently and highlighted the fact that he had no intention whatsoever of interfering with their work.   

 

I was brought up as a law abiding citizen and I will not break the law. Ministers are appointed by the President after discussions with the Premier 

 

He told a news briefing at Temple Trees that as the subject minister he would continue to carry out his duties without fear or favour.   
The minister said there was nothing for him to hide from the media and he valued his self-respect more than anything else   
“I was brought up as a law abiding citizen and I will not break the law,” he said. “Ministers are appointed by the President after discussions with the Prime Minister.”  

 
The minister said he never sought ministerial portfolios and would carry out his duties conscientiously whatever the ministry assigned to him.
