President hails ‘Thanapathilage Gedara’ movie

President Maithripala Sirisena last week hailed the commendable endeavour to make the movie ‘Thanapathilage Gedara’   focusing on promoting peace and reconciliation in the country. The President was touched after watching the inspiring movie produced by well known film producer Dr. Arosha Fernando who has so far produced 15 films within a short span of 4 years.

The special screening of his 7th film production THANAPATHILAGE GEDARA was held for President Maithripala Sirisena at the National Film Corporation’s Tharangani Hall recently.

The story, script, production management, direction of the film is by veteran Nalin Mapitiya – a senior director attached to the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation and is co produced by Expo Lanka Group CEO Hanif Yusoof.

President Maithripala Sirisena  praised the efforts of the THANAPATHILAGE GEDERA film team for focusing on national unity and reconciliation delivering a timely message to society in an effective manner.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ravi Karunanayake, Justice and Buddasasana Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and distinguished guests including Buddhist, Hindu, Catholic and Islamic religious leaders, artistes and a few scholars participated at the event.

Scenes captured at the special screening of the 7th movie production ‘Thanapathilage Gedara’ produced by Dr. Arosha Fernando and co produced by ExpoLnka group CEO Haniff Yusoof at the national Film Corporation.

It is directed by Nalin Mapitiya. The President highlighted the positive role that the media and arts could contribute positively towards acheivening lasting peace in the country.
