at Colombo National Hospital for Dengue patients

A new ward to treat dengue patients has been established at the Colombo National Hospital, hospital sources said.
Previously, Health Minister Rajitha Senaratna said that steps would be taken to establish dengue treatment units at several hospitals, as the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH) was filled with dengue patients.

Officials at the Colombo National Hospital said they did not have sufficient space for dengue patients and therefore, the newly established ward would ensure more facilities are provided to dengue patients.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, so far this year, 80,732 suspected dengue cases have been reported from all over the country. Approximately 43% of dengue cases were reported from the Western Province.
