at The Epicurean’s ‘Colombo Gourmet Week’




The eagerly anticipated ‘The Colombo Gourmet Week’ by The Epicurean is underway from 29th August to 3rd September 2017 in the city. The week-long food festival in celebration of food, wine and produce will witness the finest in gourmet dining, accompanied by an exceptional selection of beverages. Masters of ceremonies – a bevy of chefs from around the world – will converge on ‘The Colombo Gourmet Week’ to conjure up the authentic romance of Old World cuisine, with traditional Italian, French and Spanish themed evenings. 
Guest Chef from Spain, Joan Gomez, an expert in fine dining with valuable experience working with Michelin star hotels, will showcase his mastery over Spanish cuisine at a Spanish Dinner on the 1st of September.

With more than 28 years of experience while spending the last 13 years as a manager of multicultural teams, Chef Gomez is a very passionate and creative chef with a global vision of the hospitality industry in diverse fields such as luxury and urban hotels, and gastronomic restaurants and chains. 

One of the prime chefs at the event, Adam Gaunt Evans, Executive Chef at the legendary Galle Face Hotel in Sri Lanka, oversees the culinary operations of the magnificent heritage property. 


The week-long food festival in celebration of food and produce will witness the finest in gourmet dining, accompanied by an exceptional selection of beverages.



From the 29th August to 3rd September 2017

After gaining valuable experience at The Dorchester Hotel in London, the Michelin starred Greenhouse in Mayfair, and the iconic 7-star Burj al Arab in Dubai, he went on to become the sous-chef at the Flying Fish restaurant in Sydney. He has headed fine dining restaurants at the luxurious SonevaFushi in the Maldives and Soneva Kiri in Thailand. On returning home to UK, he opened his own pop-up restaurant, championing seasonal regional cuisine before heading up Machine House, which immediately gained entry into the Michelin guide, widely regarded as one of Wales’s best restaurants.

Eager to showcase his skills at the event, Chef Indika Bandara of ‘Jetwing 7’ Colombo, first entered the colourful and irresistible world of international cuisine in 2001, taking up an assignment at Heritance Kandalama, Sri Lanka, from where he moved to the UAE and worked in some of the region’s most prestigious hospitality chains and brands such as JumeirahMessilah Beach Hotel and Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi. Chef Bandara will host Dîner Français, a delectable home style French dining experience on the 30th of August.

The celebratory Colombo Gourmet Week will end with a grand finale on 3rd September, with gourmet treats at The Big Brunch, which will feature flowing hues of pink and bubbly over an absolutely lush multi cuisine brunch spread, topped off  with the exceptionally talented flaring bartender, Jan Marc Menicable from Monin, as he takes center-stage and whips up some innovative cocktails.
