Addressing the Commission, Perpetual Treasuries Owner Arjun Aloysius yesterday informed The PCoI that he did not want to testify before the commission on legal instructions he received.

At the onset of yesterdays proceedings, his counsel Gamini Marapana PC commending the order given by the commission on Aloysius’ compellability told that his client was not keen to give evidence.

At this point, the commission stressed that it wanted Arjun Aloysius to officially convey his wish to the commission.

Thereby, Arjun Aloysius, addressing the commission conveyed his unwillingness to testify.

Arjun Aloysius: I don’t wish to give evidence as I received legal instructions

Justice Prasanna Jayawardena: You really considered this, right?

Aloysius: Yes
Meanwhile, Acting Solicitor General Dappula de Livera saying that it was unprecedented to commend an order in such a way as done by Mr. Marapana PC, stated that they do not agree with the PCoI’s order given on Arjun Aloysius and emphasized ‘It was a wrong order’.
He informed the commission that he would consult the Attorney General over the matter and would contemplate future course of action relating to the given order accordingly.
