Police said the woman had gone to the beach to commit suicide after one of her sons kicked her out of the house. They said one of her sons served in the Army, while the other was a father of three.

She had helped her sons when she was employed abroad, but they had now forgotten everything. She said she even helped one of them to go overseas.

L.A. Madushani, a resident of Station Road, who found the helpless mother languishing in the beach, had taken her home and informed the police emergency service about the incident the following day.

Officers at the Children’s and Women’s Bureauare conducting investigations on the incident under the guidance of Mount Lavinia Chief Inspector Pushpakumara.
