Pakistan produced a clinical performance to beat Sri Lanka by seven wickets in the first Twenty20 international worked off in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Pakistan’s victory was fashioned by Hasan Ali who returned career best figures of three wickets for 23 Sri Lanka were skittle out for just 102 runs in 18.3 overs.

In reply, Pakistan raced to their target quite convincingly while scoring 103 for three wickets from 17.2 overs.
Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez led the way with an unfinished fourth wicket partnership of 39 runs.
Malik remained unbeaten on 42 from 31 balls inclusive of four boundaries while Hafeez struck three boundaries during his unbeaten knock.

Earlier, Sri Lanka who were sent into bat produced another dismal batting performance and were bowled out for 102 runs in 18.3 overs.

Debutant Sadeera Samarawickrema and all-rounder Seekkuge Prasanna made 23 each but the rest of the batting failed to make any significant impact.

Sri Lanka lost a wicket in the third delivery of the innings and since then it turned out to be a long hard struggle for the batsman against some accurate bowling.

Samarawickrema joined opener Danushka Gunathilaka and the pair made a desperate attempt to repair the early damage.

However, Pakistan struck back in the forth over and thereafter Sri Lanka lost wickets at regular intervals as they collapsed to 66 for six at the half way stage of the innings.

Prasanna batting at number eight scored a run a ball 23 which also included two sixes before he ran out of partners. Pakistan, who won the preceding one-day international series 5-0, brought opener Ahmed Shehzad back into the side while pace spearhead Mohammad Amir – unfit for the ODIs – was not included.

Sri Lanka, under new captain Thisara Perera, gave Twenty20 debuts to seven players.
