The Supreme Court yesterday refused to grant leave to proceed with the fundamental rights petition filed by businessman Shanil Neththicumara, who is alleged to have threatened witnesses who appeared at the PCoI.

Leave to proceed had been refused on the basis that the investigations had neither been completed nor charges levelled. Mr. Neththicumara filed the petition in the Supreme Court seeking to prevent his arrest in connection with a complaint that he had threatened the witness Anika Wijesuriya.
