The priority bus lane will be in force from Borella towards Maradana from today, the Ministry of Megapolis and Western Development said yesterday.

The priority bus lane will be implemented along the P. De S. Kularatne Mawatha (Maradana Road) from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. for bus routes of 176 and 103.
Meanwhile, officials said that the practice which was adopted in Battaramulla was temporally halted for two weeks until the construction of the Rajagiriya Flyover is complete.

However, it is learnt that the project which was implemented along the Galle Road towards Colombo last year has contributed to significantly reducing traffic within the Colombo city limits.

The project was introduced in the country last March as a pilot project carried out by the Ministry in collaboration with the Moratuwa University.

Subject Minister Champika Ranawaka said Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala will observe the initiation of the project today.
