A prominent UNP minister yesterday claimed that it was several ministers from the SLFP that had got the joint opposition to protest in Parliament on Wednesday (10) when Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe was making a statement.

Minister Vajira Abeywardene said some SLFP ministers had informed Prime Minister Wickremesinghe that several of their colleagues had got the joint opposition to protest during his speech in the House. He said there had been a secret discussion on this beforehand.

These ministers had also complained to joint opposition parliamentary group leader Dinesh Gunawardene that they too had been unable to express their views in Parliament as a result of Parliament being suspended as a result of the protest.
