Parliament fracas:

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe would seek disciplinary action against UNP MPs who behaved in an unruly manner in Parliament last week, State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene said over the weekend.

Responding to a question posed by a journalist at a function held in Gampaha on Saturday (13), the State Minister re-iterated that what happened in Parliament was not scripted by those involved in the fracas as speculated by some.

He explained that the UNP MPs were forced to react in order to protect the Prime Minister after opposition members attempted to disrupt the statement made in the House by the PM.

He said the incident was not a good example to the country and that Parliamentarians were not elected to fight each other but to find solutions to the problems faced by the people.
