Iranawila murder suspect nabbed in Kokilai

A suspect, wanted in connection with the sexual abuse and murder of ten-year-old schoolboy of Iranavila was arrested by Navy Intelligence Officers in Kokilai, during a raid on the Nayaru Fishery village, the Chilaw Police said.

The suspect was handed over to the Mullaithivu Police on Saturday night (03).

The schoolboy had been strangled to death after being sexually abused and the body was left in a shrubbery in the Iranawila area on February 25. The body was recovered by the Police two days after the incident. 

The Police that received information that the suspect was working as a helper to fishermen and that he had fled from the Iranawila area after the incident, had sought the help of the Navy to arrest him. 
A team from the Chilaw Police had left for Mullaithivu to take the suspect into custody, a Spokesman for the Police said.
