Thundershowers, rough seas accompanied by wind speeds of up to 80 kmph were forecast by the Department of Meteorology for the next few days.

“This weather pattern is being caused by the active cloudiness over the South-Western Seas. Naval and fishing communities need to be vigilant,” the Met Department said.

Showers or thundershowers have been forecast for the Northern, Eastern, Uva and North-Central provinces and in the Hambantota district. Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is expected at some places, particularly in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Eastern Provinces and in the Polonnaruwa, Galle and Matara districts.

Misty conditions are expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces during the mornings.
