There may be strong winds during the thundershowers

Afternoon thundershowers are expected during the next few days with inter-monsoonal conditions being established over the island, the Department of Meteorology said yesterday.  

It said showers or thundershowers were expected at several places after 2.00 p.m.   


“Showers can be expected in the Western, Southern and South-Eastern coastal areas in the morning as well,” the Met Department said and added that misty conditions were expected at some places in the Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces during the mornings.   


“There may be strong winds during the thundershowers,” it said.   


Heavy showers were reported in some places in the Uva Province yesterday with the highest rainfall of 87.6mm recorded at Wellawaya in the Moneragala District.
