The United National Party (UNP) is to bring in no confidence motions against six ministers who had voted in favour of the no faith motion against the Prime Minister on Wednesday., UNP MP Mujibur Rahaman said yesterday.

Mr. Rahaman told the Daily Mirror that they decided to bring in no confidence motions as they believed these ministers could not continue to be in the government if they had no faith in the Prime Minister.

Six ministers who voted for the motion were S B Dissanayake, Susil Premajayantha, Chandima Weerakody, W D J Seneviratne, Dayasiri Jayasekera and Anura Priyadharashana Yapa.

However other sources from the UNP told the Daily Mirror that five of these ministers except for Minister Jayasekera had informed the party that they had decided to resign from the ministerial posts. Mr. Rahaman who responded to this said the party will halt the move if the ministers resign.

Meanwhile the UNP back benchers have made a written request from the Prime Minister and President asking them to take action against the government ministers and MPs who voted for the no faith motion on Prime Minister. UNP MP Chaminda Wijesiri said they would be compelled to take drastic action if no action is taken against them.
