The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLRSFA) is waiting on the reports from the Referees and the Match Commissioner of the Inter-Schools League Rugby Tournament game between Isipathana College and St. Peter’s College on Saturday (7) as they bid to take some stern action over the post-match fracas.

Touch Judge Ajith Kumara was reportedly assaulted by a section of Isipathana supporters after their 14-20 defeat to St. Peter’s at Havelock Park.

The newly appointed Secretary of the SLSRFA Nirodha Wijerama in an interview with Daily Mirror revealed that they are hugely disappointed over the incident and an investigation will be carried out as soon as they receive the reports from the Referees and Match Commissioner.

“Of course it’s quite disappointing and something that should never happen in a rugby game. We are having a Council Meeting tomorrow (today) and we are expecting the reports from both the Referee and the Match Commissioner, so that we can carry out a proper investigation over this incident,” Wijerama revealed.

The Peterites who had secured what could possibly be seen as their most important victory this season so far, were seen running towards the dressing room during the post-match pitch invasion.
Their Head Coach Rajeev Perera however, assured that none of the St. Peter’s players were assaulted.

“They have a history of incidents like this and it’s quite embarrassing, but none of our players were hit during this,” Perera told Daily Mirror.

The Sri Lanka Society of Rugby Football Referees meanwhile confirmed that they are expected to receive the Referee’s report within the next 24 hours.
