Nine-month service extension sought for FCID Chief

Law and Order Minister Ranjith Madduma Bandara is reported to have sought Cabinet approval for a nine-month service extension for Deputy Inspector-General Ravi Waidyalankara who heads the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID).  

The FICD was set up as a special police unit by this government to probe financial crimes and other irregularities. DIG Waidyalankara submitted his retirement papers on reaching the age of 60.
