Untitled-10As many as 459 runs were scored at the Indore run-fest with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) conjuring a crucial win over the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) on Saturday to move into the top four of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 points table.

Riding on a collective batting show led by Sunil Narine at the top, KKR posted 245 on the board, their highest team total in the history of the tournament. Once those many runs were put on the board, KXIP were always starting on the back foot. Although K. L. Rahul fired up the chase with a supremely attractive 66, his side was never going to chase it down.

However, they managed to cross the 200 run-mark which ensured that their net run-rate didn’t take as bad a hit as it was thought at the mid-innings interval.

Narine took on Ashwin and Axar Patel to hit them for two sixes and four fours en route another fifty, off 26 balls this time.

He then plundered Barinder Sran for 17 runs in an over as KXIP bowlers failed to use the short ball well against Narine – a ploy when employed well has worked against the left-hander.
