One person was taken into custody with heroin worth around Rs. 8 million and two foreign made firearms by the Police Narcotic Bureau (PNB) in Pugoda 
last evening.  


Following a tip-off, PNB officials had searched a motorcyclist in Galpothugoda, Pugoda and recovered heroin weighing around 152 grams and two foreign made pistols 
with 13 bullets. The 41-year-old suspect was identified as a resident of Galpothugoda. Following an information received by the suspect PNB had conducted attempts to arrest another suspect. However, he had fled leaving his motorcar at the Galpothugoda area.

The officials had recovered another stock of heroin weighing around 500 grams concealed in the vehicle and cash around Rs 200,000. The suspect who fled has been identified as a 40-year-old resident of Nawagamuwa 
South, Ranala.  


PNB officials said the estimated value of the total amount of narcotics was around Rs. eight million. A seven day detaining order was obtained to interrogate the arrested suspect after he was produced at the Pugoda Magistrate’s Court.  


PNB is conducting further investigations to arrest the other suspect who fled 
the scene.
