Following the recent arrest of the Chairman and a councillor of the Talawakele-Lindula Urban Council on charges of kidnapping a 5-year-old-girl, the Nuwara Eliya Police yesterday found another child, a 11-year-old boy, living at the house of the arrested councillor.

Four suspects including UC Chairman Anagipura Ashoka Sepala and Councillor Ishara Anuruddha Manchanayake were arrested on Sunday (3) on charges of kidnapping the 5-year-old-girl who was sold in 2017 to a couple for adoption without the consent of the child’s parents.

The two suspects were remanded till June 11 by the Nuwara Eliya Magistrate’s Court.

The Nuwara Eliya police, who were in the process of concluding their investigation, found the boy whose mother was suffering from a speech impediment.
