A captain’s knock of 124 by Upul Tharanga and a half century by Sadeera Samarawickrama helped Galle coast to a convincing 75-run win over the defending champions Colombo in the Super Four Inter-Provincial Limited Overs Cricket Tournament final played at the R. Premadasa Stadium yesterday.

Galle also avenged their last year’s defeat in the final as they posted a formidable 320 for seven and then restricted Colombo for 245.

Dasun Shanaka supported his skipper with a quick-fire knock of 31 whilst adding 58 runs for the fourth wicket.

zhgtjhnhTharanga was dismissed for 124 made in just 122 balls that comprised 13 boundaries and three sixes.

Chathuranga de Silva and Bhanuka Rajapasksa also made useful contributions for Galle as they ended with a formidable score.

Colombo in their run chase never got close to the target despite a 56-run partnership for the second wicket between Shehan Jayasuriya (51) and Kamindu Mendis.

At the halfway stage of the innings they were struggling at 147 for five.

Despite useful knocks coming late in the order from Angelo Perera, Skipper Thisara Perera and Wanindu Hasaranga, Colombo were bowled out for 245.
