It was after many years that I sat through a pageant. The grand show held at The Hilton Colombo was produced  by The Trio, Sangeetha, Sherrine and Dananjaya along with Siyatha TV. The Show was conceptualised and choreographed by Lou Ching Wong, who is not only a veteran in this business in addition to being a great designer, hair stylist and makeup artiste. The Production was a classy one that flowed. Lou Ching used great audio visual effects, good music, choreography and the pageant did not drag.  The few acts as fillers were also enjoyed by the audience.

There were 18 contestants vying for the title of Mr. Sri Lanka, to represent Sri Lanka at the Mr World contest.

The Contestants had a couple of weeks of vigorous training, rehearsals and many mini pageants. The panel of judges consisted of five well known personalities. The rules for judging this particular contest are the  international rules specified by the franchise holder. As all contests are not judged the same way, prior to the event the organisers need to explain to the panel of judges the conditions for their markings, plus the judges should seek explanations and clarifications on how the markings should be done and how they are counted.  After all,  it is in the judges’ hands to choose the perfect contestant, who will make Sri Lanka proud when he represents the nation as an ambassador of sorts at this international pageant.

It is not an easy task and comes with great responsibility since the decision once made cannot be revoked. The title of the most desirable man of Sri Lanka in this pageant was awarded to Manoj de Silva, who will be representing our island as the most desirable man in Sri Lanka. It was a fun evening,  meeting many people who I had not met in a long time.  Once again congratulations to Lou Ching for the fabulous production, and Sangeetha, Sherrine and Dananjaya for putting it all together.
