The traditional ‘Kap Planting’ ceremony of the Kandy Esala festival will take place on August 12 at the four Devalas of Sri Dalada Maligawa.

Addressing a meeting presided over by Kandy Government Agent H.M.P. Hitisekara, Sri Dalada Maligawa Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanda Deela said Kumbal Peraheras would parade the streets from August 16 to 20, followed by the first Randoli Perahera on August 21.

“The final Randoli Perahera will be held on August 25 and the water-cutting ceremony the subsequent day,” he said.

The Basnayake Nilames of Natha, Kataragama and Pattini Devalas and a representative from the Vishnu Devala were present.
